An island worth visiting, Dhiffushi is for everyone and for the avid traveler who wants to experience the stunning island on a budget settled in the Kaafu Atoll in the Maldives. With plenty of flora and fauna and the highlight being the beautiful beaches and plenty of accommodation options. From snorkeling, diving, Sandbank visits to fishing, you've got plenty to keep you at your feet at Dhiffushi. Just about a matter of 45 minutes on a speedboat or in 3 hours and 15 minutes in the public ferry, you will arrive at this tropical wonderland and the island is known to witness the sunrise first in the country.
Places to stay? There are some budget accommodation options as well as an Island resort for a very reasonable price.
Araamu Holidays and Spa is our go to hotel in the island which is a little more lavish than an ordinary guesthouse yet affordable. Plenty of accommodation options from sea views to sunrise view rooms equipped with private balcony, TV with free view channels and a Jacuzzi bathtub in the executive suite option.
Rashu Hiyaa is a chic little property with many facilities in store for the adrenaline junkie such as water sports, free bikes to ride around, entertainment lounge, fishing and diving. Each accommodation option offer modern amenities and views of the tropical gardens.
If you're just wondering what you can do around the island during your stay, oh trust that you will run out of time as the island is abundant in house reefs, series of lagoons and sand bank islands. You can get in to your best swimwear and head over to the two most exotic bikini beaches where you get sun loungers, overwater hammocks to chill out and white beach umbrellas to read a book if you like. The sandbanks are quite surreal perfect to indulge in a picnic or a private dinner under the stars.
But for those who are looking for an adventurous ride, plenty of diving and snorkeling sites with diving centers to guide you. There's an option of snorkeling directly off the sands of the Bikini beach or opt-in to visiting a diving centre such as the Sea Retreats Water Sports & Diving Centre with professional Padi and SSI instructors.
You can also take a trip to some neighboring islands such as Thulusdhoo with many surf breaks for the surfing enthusiast. Chickens, Sultans, Pasta Point and Lohis are to name a few. After many adventures in the sand and on the sea, you can enjoy a spa treatment at the Duniye Spa located in the neighboring island for some restorative treatments with the backdrops of the beautiful Meeru Island.
Either dine-in at the guesthouse or take a little walk in to the island and explore the many dining options to enjoy a bit of local food. At Araamu Holiday and Spa you get a generous buffet serving local and international cuisine whilst the Sand Grill is ideal to enjoy a candlelit dinner by the beach with an array of dishes on offer and ideal for families, couples and solo travelers. Cafe Faruma is their local cafe with coffee and snacks on the south side of the island.
